Strengthen your Built- In Shock Absorbers - Body Tip of the Week

Did you know that ankles are built-in shock absorbers? Like all joints, ankle joints are designed to move body parts, in this case, your feet. Keep your ankles pliable and strong by rising up onto the balls of your feet as if reaching for something on a shelf, then slowly lower your heels down. Repeat 10 times before any meal.

Body Tip of the Week

To gain leg power, efficiency, and greater dynamic ease and comfort in everything you do.

Move your thighbone in all directions to the front and back, to the left and right, up and down. Move it quickly and then move it slowly to feel more flexible, mobile, agile and stable in your body.

Body Tip of the week

Stimulate health for your body, mind, emotions, and spirit by moving your bones!

Develop bone density by changing shapes and altering the amount of weight bearing-pressure applied to your bones. By this I mean put the music on , play with body shapes and apply different body weight pressures to your bones........

Rubbing and directing your hands towards your feet releases tension in the neck and shoulders which is one of our problem areas where we store tension...

Be Present in MIND-BODY-SPIRIT

Today's Nia class was run in preparation for Ken's workshop. In today's Nia class I met a great group of ladies whose energies are amazing !!!! The focus of today's Nia class was being present in body, mind emotions and spirit (the whole self). Nia allows you to shift out of the mental realm and be more present in our bodies. Our bodies will tell us when we need to be in balance and if we ignore the body it will let us know in a negative way that we are not in balance in our bodies.
From the spiritual realm we are always looking for that "out of body" experience when we should be looking inward and centering ourselves in every realm. Nia allows you to be more aware of self.
Please feel free to comment about this morning's Nia class and what you think would improve my class. Have a blessed weekend and I look forward to seeing you at Ken's workshop......

Thought I would mention one student had commented about the class being energetic- Nia is a cardio workout but in saying that I encourage all students especially new students to Nia to work in their body's way. I remember coming to my first Nia class dancing right at the back of class - could not keep up with all the movements but still worked in my body's way and really enjoyed the class. What I liked about Nia is it is not about getting the moves right first time, it is about enjoying the movement in your body, staying in pleasure and the rest will come. There is" no right or wrong way" in Nia .... after all it is all about you!!!!!!! PS: I have noted the comment and will be making a slight change to my Nia class which I am sure will

Dance through life with this free- form of exercise

Looking for a cardio workout that engages both mind and body with a side order of consciousness? The Nia Technique may be just the ticket. In each hour-long Nia class, enthusiasts experience the creativity of dance, the precision of yoga and the power of martial arts, as they move to music that rocks the body and soothes the soul.

Nia blends the energy forms of Tai chi, aikido, tae kwon do, Duncan dance, jazz, modern dance and yoga into a holistic, self-healing experience. The underlying principle of it all is finding joy and pleasure in movement.

A Nia class “celebration” is an active, sweaty, cardiovascular workout currently practiced in 39 countries. Students ages 16 to 81 dance enthusiastically to music that ranges from inspirational to funky and primal, accented by kicks, blocks, punches and jazzy showmanship. Each person moves at their desired level of intensity, adapting the 52 moves of the form to their body potential. Each hour-long session ends in freeform stretching and relaxation and an invitation that students apply the movements to their daily lives.

“Nia engages your creativity, “When you are moving, your brain gets out of the way and your body dances freely. There is " no thinking" in Nia. Movements are copied and absorbed directly into the body. (bypassing the thinking brain). If you think Nia is something you would like to experience, feel free to contact me and reserve your space in the Nia class.
